Asparagus 06 Jan, Tanisha (South Africa - Dry summer sub-tropical climate): I planted my asparagus seeds in oct/nov last year in a tuna tin with a clingwrap cover, creating a greenhouse almost. I have now planted them outdoors in planters, and they have shot up. I do think growing from seeds take a while, however, I'm quite content to wait. It seems like its quite a rewarding plant to wait for :)

Garlic 25 Dec, hardus (South Africa - Semi-arid climate): where can i find garlic seeds for about 0,5ha, and how many seeds would i need for 0;5 ha. My tamotoes is already planted, 600 mm apart under drip irrigation, and i want to plant the garlic end of january, between or next to the tamato plants, will this work? Chilli peppers (also Hot peppers) 09 Feb, mark (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate): the 3 hottest chillis in the world are the bhut jolokia or ghost chilli, the trinidad moruga scorpion and the carolina reaper. carolina being the hottest. unfortunately not many of these seeds are available in south africa. but you can order them from overseas and it works out cheaper than if you were to buy from a south african supplier. i grow all three of them and i ordered mine from amazon.com for more information on some of the hottest chillis around feel free to email me. Potato 14 Nov, Fred (South Africa - Semi-arid climate): I may be wrong but I took it to mean that planting potatoes in tyres opened up vulnerability to you consuming the absorbed heavy metals which the tyres are said to leach, or release into the soil. I hope this gives help, even if only an alternative perception.
