"If left without water they will bolt to seed and be inedible" - I refer your comment above - I think this is what happened to my broccoli - no heads but long sprouts - I presume that is what you refer to as "bolt to seed". I water my veggies every morning, are there any other factors that may cause this ? I presume I can't eat the long sprouts - do I cut it out and wait for the additional crops ?

Good day, i read here your problem with the growing of your beetroot... It's normal that beetroot is growing above the ground but every day you must give water. Let the ground never come to drying.. Excuses for my bad English... i live in Holland.(the Netherlands)...
Okra (also Ladyfinger, gumbo) 08 Oct, Rirhandzu (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
What type of fertilizer would you recommend for Okra? Secondly, what are pests associated with Okra and how can one control them? Kind regards RIRHANDZU
Okra (also Ladyfinger, gumbo) 21 Jan, Masana (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
I use the organic fertilizer with Gypsum lime and the normal manure - i find Okra responds well to it. It grows stunted in other fertilizers i have tried in the past. Stink bugs and bollworms are common pests for Okra. I also use the organic pest control for these that i buy at Builder's Express.
