Potato 11 Sep, Jean Bittkau (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
You can cut off a piece of potato with 2 eyes . Let the cut dry out for a day or two. This helps seal in moisture and prevents rot setting in.

Which variety of leek are perennial?
Leeks 18 Oct, Chris (Australia - temperate climate)
Any type which produces offsets (baby plants growing off the base of the stem) potentially perennial. You leave or transplant any offsets when you harvest the main plant. Allium ampeloprasum var. ampeloprasum is a perennial or multiplying variety.

Chilli peppers (also Hot peppers) 09 Sep, (Australia - temperate climate)
I found capsicum/chilli plants to be very cold sensitive. As soon as my seedlings were exposed to cold (<15 C) temperature they stopped growing for a week at a time. I found it better to keep them indoors under lights until at least mid-spring when the day and night temperatures remained warmer.

Hi, Could you let me know where you are and if possible to pick up some seeds. I have just returned from Portugal where they were used in salads and like to try and grow. [email protected] if you can help
Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 10 Oct, Mike (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
I got my packet of seeds from Bunnings. The brand is Johnsons and they seem to specialise on more obscure seeds. Probably your best bet, more expensive than most of the other seeds, but high yield when established.
Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 16 Sep, Dan (Australia - temperate climate)
Hey, i just picked up a packet of seeds from a nursery called 'golden berry' i know their known by alot of names but that seems to be the one sold in packets. Bunnings sometimes stocks them as 'Cape Gooseberry seedlings' hope that helps

I purchased seed online from organicseeds.co.za. I will plant them here (KZN) in April. They have a large range of seeds, but some that I got from them did not germinate at all. Others were excellent.
