Rhubarb 11 Mar, Helen Dunn (Australia - temperate climate)
I am having same problem as Gerald, healthy 18 monthold plant now with leaves turning yellow /brown & stem rotting. Some ants on plant but no sign of bugs. 50% white shadecloth on wire fence to protect from wind & strong sun. Does anyone know remedy as I lost a beautiful plant this way some years ago?
Pak Choy (also Pak choi) 10 Mar, Mick (Australia - temperate climate)
Whats the diference between bok choi and pak choy
Pak Choy (also Pak choi) 25 May, Maggie Fletcher (Australia - temperate climate)
I've been wondering the same thing. All I know is that I planted purchased seedlings of bok choy and pak choy at the same time (late April), and the bok choy is growing happily and the pak choy bolted to flowers. They are in similar positions as far as sun and shelter. I'm hoping someone may be able to explain.
Pak Choy (also Pak choi) 24 Apr, Richy (Australia - cool/mountain climate)
They're the same, just different spellings from chinese
Pak Choy (also Pak choi) 02 Sep, GrocerMan (Australia - cool/mountain climate)
They are not the same. Pak Choy is sweeter, has green soft stems. Bok Choy is slightly more bitter (but still sweet) and has white harder stems than Pak choy. They look very similar but if you know the difference, its quite obvious.
Radish 10 Mar, Kay Green (Australia - temperate climate)
Recent radish purchases from a variety of shops have all been like rocks. Almost break my dentures. Is it the time of year or just a weather phenomenon?
Radish 29 Dec, Mike (Australia - temperate climate)
Radishes grown slow with irregular watering tend to be hard and bitter I think. Grow them quick with plenty of water.
Sunflower 10 Mar, (Australia - temperate climate)
I am trying to grow giant sunflowers from seed I purchased at a reputable seed dealer, I can get a 40% germination rate in seed pots but the seedlings are very leggy and tend to lay down at 7.5cm high. In the ground I did get three to sprout, quite upright about 10cm high but then nothing. No further growth for around around four weeks. What am I doing wrong? Good quality potting soil, slow release in soil and I also use fish emulsion about every 8 weeks. All my other plants in the garden and pots are thriving. Any ideas? Please

Hi, Are you using manure from a farm ? Your description sounds like Clopyralid poisoning.
Peas 09 Mar, nceba mpontshane (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Once more I need your help towards finding a cultivar which I would call "black eyed peas" because they look like ordinary peas we use on daily basis. Their difference is that they have black eyes when they are dry. They turn "whitish" when they are dry. Please help.
Rhubarb 09 Mar, craig linton (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
can rhubarb grow in a tunnel.?
Eggplant (also Aubergine) 09 Mar, Robert Tompsett (Australia - temperate climate)
I planted egg plant seeds in my protected part of the garden, and they have grown fine with lots of flowers and I have harvested two fairly large fruits already. But the rest are fairly small and do not seem to be growing. I have fertilized, and i water every second day. will they grow into April month ?? I am in Canberra
Eggplant (also Aubergine) 06 Apr, Paysin (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
Hi It's probably ok till April but once it gets cooler it won't do very well. Try staking the plant as it supports it to help produce bigger fruit. Also if there are multiple fruits then they can be a bit smaller.
Broad Beans (also Fava bean) 07 Mar, Sharon (Australia - temperate climate)
Is it too late to plant dwarf beans? The packet says 'plant in March" ?
Rutabaga (also Swedes) 07 Mar, Sharon (Australia - temperate climate)
We planted swede seed in trays 3 weeks ago in potting mix and had 2 seeds germinate. We kept them moist and they were in dappled shade - what did we do wrong?
Rutabaga (also Swedes) 19 May, Marina (Australia - temperate climate)
Swede are to be sown direct into the soil just like carrots. They don't like to be transplanted.
Asparagus 07 Mar, ross rossi (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)

Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 07 Mar, Pat (Australia - temperate climate)
All my cape gooseberrys grew really well and then the top leaves all started to fall off and now most of them are just sticks with new growth coming from the base. They have had the same care all along. Do you know why this may be? They are planted in all different areas of the garden.
Kohlrabi 06 Mar, CHRIS LUCHT (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Where can one buy kohlrabi seeds in South Africa?
Snow Peas (also Sugar Peas, Mangetout, Chinese Peas) 06 Mar, Lois Hermiston (Australia - temperate climate)
I have just removed tomato plants and am wondering if I can put snow peas in the same plot. Is there a hint as to how to prepare the soil? I know with Sweet Peas the soil needs some Lime. Is it the same with edible peas?
Horseradish 06 Mar, Russell (Australia - temperate climate)
Hi Where can I get fresh Horseradish in the Illawarra. Thanks
Pumpkin 04 Mar, gary (Australia - temperate climate)
Pumpkin grew from compost that I put in the ground and have had four large pumpkins . I have given them plenty of water but they are all turning yellow. The stems are still green and they are hard with a "full" sound when tapped I believe they are Jap pumpkins and I`m wondering if this is natural to turn yellow. Would appreciate any response as I have never had pumpkins growing.
Pumpkin 09 Mar, Cindy (Australia - temperate climate)
Sounds like it's a Butternut pumpkin. They grow from my worm compost too.
Pumpkin 08 Mar, keith (Australia - temperate climate)
G'dday gary.....Im inclined to think your pumpkin did not get pollinated as it's only then they turn yellow, I would try hand pollinating next time to insure fruit set.. It's worth the try... Good luck Cheers ..keith

Rosella (also Queensland Jam Plant, Roselle) 02 Mar, (Australia - temperate climate)
Do you pull out plants when finished fruiting or can you leave them in for the next season?
Rosella (also Queensland Jam Plant, Roselle) 02 May, Lilli (Australia - sub-tropical climate)
I pull mine out each year when they are past their prime and the seed pods are bursting open.
