You can do this with a few vegetables, carrots, onions, shallots, celery etc. Look up a website PINTEREST it has lots of this stuff or google it.

My celery plant has been wilting more and more. It has been raining quite a bit in the area, and I checked the dampness of the soil but the plant is still wilting more. The leaves are not yellowing but they are getting darker each day. I am unsure of how to proceed or if it will even survive. Thank you in advance.

Germinating celery seed, growing from seed this autumn. Soaked the seed overnight and then spread on damp paper towel and place in seed raising mix, covering very lightly with the mix. Result, I used the entire packet of seed and I think they all germinated. 4 weeks on I have 36 of the strongest seedlings growing on in pots.

Hi Beverley, I want to try your method, & I’ve never grown celery before. A question please, do you leave the paper towel there or do you remove it at some stage ? Many thanks, Graeme

Thanks for that idea. I'm trying this year. Planted into 6 cell tray, way too thick. I'm going to try and separate them this afternoon into bigger pots. Will try your way next time.

How do I know when celery is ready to harvest

- HARVEST - 17-18 WEEKS from planting. Or when it looks like the stuff in the supermarkets.

I use stalks as needed from the time they are as thick as your pointy finger ... they just seem to keep growing back the more I cut
