I have read that a new female asparagus plant is sterile & has not seed/berries. I however can not remember if it was on the net or in a magazine. So I have no proof, if I find it again I should post it.

I planted asparagus three mths ago. My zone is between 9 & 10. The weather has been pretty windy and cold. I water well so cold won't dry the plant. But when will i see asparagus start growing?

Have dug up a dozen thriving Asparagus plants. Needed to move out of existing bed. Shall the dirt around roots be washed off or left undisturbed? Old heirloom type so need to save successfully. Only a few Spring shoots emerging right now. Thank for your help. Zone B

Hi Mike... I'm in zone 9b, as well. I'm wondering if you decided to plant asparagus.... and if you did, how did it work out for you? I just bought crowns and hope to plant this week. I have a spot that is cooler than most of my property. Wish me luck!

I put crowns in last summer and cut the canes down in the late fall. I now have first asparagus in March. Should I let them grow and not pick them?. No frost here. 1200 feet up and maybe 4 miles from the ocean in California. Fog at night in May-July but sun during the day. Warm to hot fall.

I live just North of Houston, Texas (20 miles) and I wanted to know if there was any way that Asparagus can be grown here. If so, what is there name or names?

Work out your climate zone from the blue tab above. Then check asparagus and look in the calendar to see what month you can plant or google it..
