Have dug up a dozen thriving Asparagus plants. Needed to move out of existing bed. Shall the dirt around roots be washed off or left undisturbed? Old heirloom type so need to save successfully. Only a few Spring shoots emerging right now. Thank for your help. Zone B

I planted asparagus three mths ago. My zone is between 9 & 10. The weather has been pretty windy and cold. I water well so cold won't dry the plant. But when will i see asparagus start growing?

I have read that a new female asparagus plant is sterile & has not seed/berries. I however can not remember if it was on the net or in a magazine. So I have no proof, if I find it again I should post it.

When do you cut the plants back ? They do not die in my garden. I need to know when to cut them down. Thanks. Sarah

Here in South Carolina, my asparagus grow April-Oct. So you may need to let them store food for 6-7 months. Clemson Extension says let the ferns grow with out cutting/harvesting spears, in July cut the ferns back & harvest new spears. So I guess you could cut them back a week or two before you want to harvest the new spears. I, however have not tried this .

I recently learned that asparagus and strawberries make good friends. Learn something new everyday. Here we go!

I am new to planting Asparagus seeds harvested from my garden. I live in the USA in Northeast (Rhode Island) I had a bumper crop of Aspargus this year and have harvested all the red Seeds: When and how should I plant these seeds?

I planted Asparagus roots I’m in the 3rd season now and so far I have picked two batches. I tried seeds and they didn’t grow. You maybe able to buy the roots at a place where they sell plants. The roots are kept in a refrigerator.

True Female have berries, but some new female do not have berries. Male are thumb size, most female are little finger or #2 pencil size like Mary Reed.
