I love Parsnips but have found that one is unable to buy the seed in SA except maybe at a farmers coop in bulk I have family in the UK and have had them send me seeds but am told the seeds do not have a long shelf life so best to let one or two go to seed and replant from them.

Parsley (also curly leaf parsley or flat leaf (Italian) parsley) 26 Mar, Sonnyboy Malaza (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
in which regions/places can i grow parsley in south africa?
Parsley (also curly leaf parsley or flat leaf (Italian) parsley) 13 Jun, Micky (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Parsley grows just about everywhere. It's resistant to cold weather, but don't like dry and too hot places. If you live in an arid area rather grow them in a courtyard where they are shielded from the worst sun or keep them well watered in the herb patch as they wilt quite quickly during hot months. To keep the soil from drying out in summer pack used (cooled) teabags around the parsley or chips of bark. As long as they are kept well hydrated (not over watered) you should be able to grow parsley successfully.

Hi I live in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town (Parow North). Where can I purchase strawberry seeds or seedlings?
Strawberries (from seeds) 05 May, Khomo (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
Hi Tanya Did you come right with the seedlings? My seeds which I bought are growing, the problem is the cold winter which I think to keep it away by making a small greenhouse with controlled temperature until they are nature for outside.
Strawberries (from seeds) 01 Apr, khomo (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
I think you can ask your local farmer for seedlings if you just plant at home, they normaly throw some out to thin the runners or you can try looking at bidorbuy for seeds, I also got them there...
Carrot 03 Mar, Mkhu (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
What might be a problem when carrots becomes short and seems malformed. What can I do?
Carrot 04 Mar, Kevin (Australia - temperate climate)
Michu Hi, Seems that your soil is not friable enough to allow the roots to go deep and the forking is due to too much ( probably fresh ) manure.
Parsnip 03 Mar, Marilynn Bezuidenhout (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
My daughter brought me seeds from UK & they grew quite well after a few teething problems, not knowing the seeds at all. Now I have for the past 3 years been trying to buy parsnip seeds in SA & just cannot find any. Please where can I get & which seed firm packs them? In the Rustenburg area where I live, parsnips are not easy to find for cooking either.
