Mustard greens (also gai choy) 28 Apr, Doné (South Africa - Dry summer sub-tropical climate)
Just got hold of mustard greens seed, packaged by Kirchhoffs (a popular seed supplier, stocked at most nurseries and co-ops, alongside other brands like Mayford and Starke Ayres). The package unfortunately doesn't say what type of mustard greens it is, but gauging by the image on the pack, I'd say it looks like Southern Giant Curled.
Okra (also Ladyfinger, gumbo) 10 Jul, Bhat RB (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Okra or Lady's finger should be cooked/stir fried without water to get rid of gum content. Then it tastes nice. Before it is added to soups, the cut pieces of okra should be stir fried with small quantity of vegetable oil. This how the gum part is removed. Never use water to cook Okra.

Mint (also Garden mint) 08 Jul, (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
can mint cuttings form roots if placed in acontainer of water
Mint (also Garden mint) 10 Jul, Julian (Australia - temperate climate)
Yes, quite readily. A cutting 10 cm's or more in length with water about half way will most definitely form roots in about a week or so. It does much better in pots once planted out as mint really does roam.

Spinach (also English spinach) 13 Jun, Micky (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Spinach is a rather tenacious plant and don't need much to prosper. They survived heavy frost in my garden this winter - and I live in Ermelo's weather zone where the winters are pretty nasty. You can really plant them any time of the year. The cultivars that grow best in winter are swiss chard and dash (baby spinach). Just keep your seedling protected by covering the ground with a thick layer of straw / dead grass after sowing and fertilize well. Water lightly every morning - over-doing the water will "drown" your seeds or expose them. Germination is about 2 - 4 weeks during the cold months so just be patient.
