You can get sweet potato slips from Living seeds.

You would have to look around your local area and find some sweet potato growers. I assume you are just wanting to plant a few. If a lot then ring your agricultural department. You need the new fresh part of the vines, about 1/2 m long, take all the leaves off except the last 3-4 where the tip is growing. Make a furrow in the soil and place the slip along it and cover the vine but leave the last few leaves out of the ground. Lots of water for the first 10 days.
Rhubarb 11 Jan, Kevin Crosbie (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
Hi we live in Port Elizabeth and recently started growing a rhubarb plant in a pot. It has being doing fine although some critter has been eating on the leave. I came home yesterday and it looked like it had started wilting so I gave it some water, thus morning it looks like it is dying there are some new leaves at the bottom should I be cutting back the old growth?
Rhubarb 13 Jan, (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
I don't grow rhubarb but if the leaves are dead then cut them back.

Ginger 05 Jan, Tebogo Mafafo (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
Where can one find ginger for planting
Ginger 14 Jan, Anna (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
Tebogo I am growing ginger from a piece bought at my local Spar. I broke off a few pieces with growing tips on it and planted in well-composted potting soil. They have sprouted and so I eagerly await my harvest next year :-)

Cauliflower 30 Dec, Vikani Mkhize (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
I see my cauliflower leaves becoming yellow. What must I do to boost the growth of the plant. It has been coming right with big leaves. Can I pick leaves for consumption
Cauliflower 31 Dec, anonymous (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Depends how old the plants are.. If old probably a normal function. For your climate zone it says to plant from onwards. Your plants should only be about half grown if planted early Nov. High rainfall may cause the yellow. Look up the internet to see what you can do with caulie leaves to eat. You could put on some fertiliser but not too much as this will only produce lots of leaf and little/no caulie.
Ginger 26 Dec, Tolani (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
Can I grow ginger in Botswana in a place surrounding Gaborone? What are likely prospects?
Ginger 30 Dec, Anon (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Look through the climate zones of Sth Africa and pick a similar one to yours. Then go to ginger and set the climate zone to yours. It will tell you if it will grow there and when to plant.

Hi Which sweet large watermelon do you recommend for me. I want to start watermelon farming. Please recommend seeds name. Regards
Watermelon 19 Nov, anon (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
I suggest you phone your agricultural department and ask. Generally it comes down to what kind of melon you want to grow, seeded, seedless, big, small. Check out a few internet seed selling companies also and read up about the different varieties.
Rhubarb 17 Nov, Roy van Deemter (South Africa - Semi-arid climate)
My rhubarb is about ten years old. The plant has never been higher than 10 cm's with one or two leaves the size of a normal hand. Every year I leave it thinking next year it will grow better. Unfortunately it does not happen. What can be my problem?
Rhubarb 18 Nov, Another gardener (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
Rhubarb grows for about 10 years. If you have had poor crops from it I would think you haven't looked after it very well. Plants are like us, they need feed - fertilising and watering. Maybe time to plant some fresh new ones. Prepare the soil well before planting and in a new position.
Watermelon 06 Nov, Imran Mbongzee (South Africa - Summer rainfall climate)
