Cape Gooseberry (also Golden Berry, Inca Berry ) 21 Jun, Dawn Phillips (USA - Zone 5a climate)
I'm in Ohio and my gooseberry bush loves this weather. Cold winters and warm summers. They are good grown in sun and partial shade.
Tomatillo 04 Sep, S.R. Weeks (USA - Zone 10a climate)
I had a volunteer (a.k.a. "weed") tomatillo-like plant sprout up in my garden. It has grown to be approximately 3 ft. high, same foliage as shown above & has pointed lantern shaped papery outer coverings around a small green tomato-like fruits. Is this edible? Would the Cape Gooseberries be edible?
Tomatillo 17 Aug, Marie (USA - Zone 8a climate)
Tomatillos have done well here in Texas, which is extremely hot and dry. I grow them in the summer, and they seem to do well in temperatures over 39 degrees Celsius. Humidity does not bother them, but pruning lower branches helps prevent rot.
Turnip 11 Aug, (USA - Zone 5a climate)

Burdock (also Gobo (Japanese Burdock)) 19 Jul, Lauren (USA - Zone 8b climate)
I just harvested and ate the burdock ( gobo) I planted earlier this year. I'd like to plant more seeds. Any advice? Do I need to wait for the temperature to cool down a bit? In case you are wondering, all of it ended up as kinpira. It was devoured immediately. It was far too yummy.
Rosemary 12 Jul, sherron hardin (USA - Zone 5a climate)
I saw where you can make a hedge out of Rosemary. Would this be a good suggestion? I have several plants I started from seed because I would like organic herbs. I plant on planting it in my garden as an entrance hedge. Need to know if I am heading in the right direction with this herb. We have four seasons here. Trying to make long lasting decisions. Thanks
Lettuce 12 Jul, sherron hardin (USA - Zone 5a climate)
I planted within the time frame as your chat suggested. My lettuce has gotten bitter as it has grown. I have it in full sun. I don't know if that is the reason but it would seem on the second growing it became a little bitter and gets worse as it grows. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help
Garlic 07 Jul, Julie Carville (USA - Zone 7a climate)
I bought mild garlic, but it is hot and wasn't supposed to be. Is this because I didn't water it steadily or enough, the soil, or some other reason that non-not garlic is hot (taste wise) when I harvest it.
Asparagus Pea (also Winged pea) 27 Jun, Ennie McCurdy (USA - Zone 10a climate)
I just got my Wing Beans from Amazon.com that I ordered. I live in Texas and it is almost the end of June here. When can I plant these beans or is it too late to plant them now. Would appreciate your response. Thanks.
Leeks 12 Jun, (USA - Zone 8a climate)
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO 'BLANCH' THE STEM OR PLANT?
Leeks 13 Jun, Andrew (Australia - temperate climate)
It means to exclude light from the stem. That is what creates the white, tightly packed section of the leek, which is the bit we like to cook with. There are two main ways to achieve this: 1. As the plant grows, pack soil around the stem; or 2. Plant seeds or seedlings in a trench (about 10cm deep) and as the plant grows fill in the trench. Hope this helps.

Jane: You can buy oca in the USA at www.cultivariable.com. Delia: Okra, the edible pod, is Abelmoschus esculentus. Oca, a tuber, is Oxalis tuberosa. In Australia, you might be more familiar with it under the name "New Zealand Yam".
